Creating an online course involves multiple roles, each with its own responsibilities. The infographic below outlines the tasks and the order in which they should be completed.
Courses Formats
We have developed four formats according to the type of training you want to develop and your audience. Here are the characteristics of each each one of them so that you can select the one that best suits your needs.
Perfect for showing step-by-step instructions on how to use software or perform specific tasks within a department.
This is done using screenshots and screen recordings in which the user is shown the actions they must take to execute certain processes.
- Duration: Each module should be no longer than 30 minutes, divided into lessons of 3 minutes or less.

Must include:
- Voice-over
- Dynamization activities
- Assessment
Ideal for in-depth courses on specific topics offering a traditional online learning format with dynamic and interactive elements, similar to an in-person class experience.
- Duration: Modules should range from 30 minutes to 3 hours, with lessons not exceeding 30 minutes.
May include:
- Images (your own or from image banks)
- Videos
- Interactive elements
- Downloadable documents
- Mentoring
Must include:
- Voice-over
- Dynamization activities
- Assessment
In this format, the course author presents the content in a pre-recorded class, accompanied by a dynamic presentation.
An interactive digital whiteboard allows the teacher to make freehand notes or browse websites during the session.
- Duration: Modules should range from 30 minutes to 3 hours, with lessons not exceeding 30 minutes.

Must include:
- Dynamization activities
- Assessment
This format features the author explaining the subject directly to the camera in the IVI RMA Global Education studio paired with an interactive presentation.
It can also be used to introduce other courses.
- Duration: Each module should be no longer than 30 minutes, with lessons no longer than 6 minutes.
